What is Eclectica?
Up until December 2018 Eclectica was an award winning, quirky brick and mortar retail store in the South Wales valleys offering an Eclectic mix of cards and gifts. Offering off-beat gift ideas sourced primarily from small British businesses to really be true to the often over used term UNIQUE. In many cases Eclectica was the only Welsh stockist of some of the independent suppliers.
Established in March 2017, it won a Welsh SME award for gift shop of the year 2018 in Caerphilly, and was nominated for Caerphilly Councils High Street Heroes scheme. The wonderfully supportive customers to the store all seemed to have something in common. A love for quirky gift ware…and shoes!
Send me shoes was launched in September 2018 to enable everyone to experience the joy of wearing Irregular Choice, Ruby Shoo and Iron Fist without the, often high, price tag attached. Especially when they wore flats and boots as a regular ‘go to’ shoe and couldn’t justify buying heels for events for whatever reason.
With a small family in tow. Kids were often a regular fixture in store. Hanna made the decision to close the store and focus primarily on the shoes to better fit with family responsibilities. When all 3 are full time in education there is a consideration to reopen a store as Hanna thoroughly enjoys grown up human interaction and plans are in place to add an online store when the site is completed!
Hanna is the warm and approachable owner of Eclectica. A statement shoe hire service and, up until recently, a funky brick and mortar gift store.
Her many years in various customer service roles prepared her well for her foray into the world of business ownership as she is proactive and efficient although coming across as calm and laid back as is her nature. Happy to chat she is very much a ‘people’ person and loves to cater to individuals who love footwear and are comfortable embracing their inner quirks in a safe and non judgemental space.
Very much ‘the girl next door’ with an underlying streak of ‘Weirdo’ Hanna started Eclectica in March 2017 following the birth of her third child. Realising that returning to work was an expensive option, needing a nanny due to having 3 kids under 5, she opened Eclectica and realised a dream that she had since the early noughties. She loved her job working for inspirational independent retailer Oliver Bonas in London and often fantasized about having a similar store of her own.
June 2018 saw her achieve a finalist position in the national MPower awards for mums in business and she has also been featured in various media publications. See the press page to learn more.
When she isn’t buying shoes, either to hire out or for herself, she loves spending time at the beach, eating family sized bags of maltesers to herself and is wrangling children or avoiding driving!
